Two lone wolves [autistic poetry]

(Beginning note: this is how I view most of my relationships, especially the more successful ones.  It’s not them; it’s me–and I’m not sure that “it” is even a bad thing.  It’s acceptable to me, even comfortable, most of the time.  It is what it is, and it just Is.  To capture the mood, you will probably want the song running through your head that was running through mine when I wrote this (although my “lyrics” don’t match the song precisely this time), which is the song “A Chi Sa Dove Sara” (link to YouTube video) by the little-known, Denver-based Goth Americana band Tarantella.  Definitely worth a listen.  They’ve inspired me so.  This particular poetry piece was written in the nippy chill of November 2015.)

I’m gonna climb that hill over there
And I’m gonna make it
I’m gonna walk down that road over there
(I’ll) follow you, (if you) follow me, and I…
I’m gonna throw that rock over there
It picks you, it picks me, and we…
Are two lone wolves in the icy winter rain
Sometimes it’s you, sometimes it’s me

I’m gonna walk that plain over there
Pick the scrubby little leaves and the there is to believe, and I…
I’m gonna look out from on top of the hill
All I see is gray
I’m gonna aim for that bush over there
Maybe it’s you, maybe it’s me, and we…
Are two lone wolves on the same icy road
I see you, you see me
If I see you, will you see me?

I’m gonna face that sleet over there
And I’m gonna take it
I’m gonna walk that path over there
(I’ll) follow you, (if you) follow me, and I…
I’m going to catch that cloud over there
It licks you, it licks me, and we…
Are two lone wolves in the same icy world
I feel you, you feel me
Sometimes in you, I see me

If we’re the same, do you love me?

  1. Beautiful poem! As soon as I started reading it
“Running Up That Hill” started playing in my head.
(The Placebo Cover, not the Kate Bush Original)
Which is strange because running is in the foreword,
& that hill is in the first line of your poem. Strange how
quickly words, phrases, memories & sounds connect.

      1. You have the uncanny talent of writing things I could not
find words to express, or quite put my finger on with so
such accuracy… That there is such a synchronicity in
this world makes it a much less lonely, daunting place.

      1. Most of his words are “nice” words👍 The only statement we’re trying to change is “shut up”(which he got from Harry Potter😱) we think “be quiet please” is much nicer. We’re working on it💪🗣👣💞💖

  2. Well, well, well…
And the Wave returned to Silence, from where it emerged. I’ve finally found the Laina “core”, exactly where all your best adaptive mechanisms must stay outside, i.e. your poetry self.
Nice to finally meet the core You, after I’ve met the “social” you 🌟
Please tell me if I’m wrong 👾👼

    1. Hehe you’re so close it’s like tasting clouds on the tongue. So very close 😘💖. The kernel–the deepest that I’ve been able to identify is music, either my own or that of others. That’s where the kernel is 😊. But you are the closest anyone has ever come! *Applause!!* 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💚💙☮💗

      1. Hmmm, sweet congratulations to myself 👾Actually, my whole comment was much longer, but out of respect 😇 I kept the “profiling” on the side of your chosen, front window privacy 😉 It would be utterly interesting though to sit inside for a more asocial chat 🎓

  3. Amazingly well done! I would also like to tell you I met my 2nd cousin, a man named Joe, and he is just like you, an extremely talented writer and poet. While I stayed with him and his family in NY I was able to talk to him about my blog and asked if he should have a blog. His family members said he should definitely do it, and he wants to now create a blog just like yours. We will be meeting with him in NY city this time in a week or so since we’re in Maine right now, it I really wanted to tell you! Would you like a link to his blog when it comes out?
