OMG! The Blogger Recognition Award <3

I admit that I’m embarrassingly (and I mean embarrassingly!) late in responding to this (oops!!  My apologies!  Yes, I’ve been playing catch-up for a couple months now; life got a little crazy and there was also a cognitive spoon shortage in through there).  Seriously, I was nominated for this lovely award back in February by the equally-lovely Sasha, the author of Little Miss Aspie, a wonderful and positive blog with the utterly fantastic tagline: “Different, Not Defective”.  (Yeah!!  Cheering.)

The Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how you blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select 15 other bloggers for this award.
  6. Comment on each blog to let them know you’ve nominated them and a link to the post you created.

Thank you so much, Sasha aka Little Miss Aspie for the thoughtful nomination!!  Mwah! ❤

My Brief Blog Story…

This blog actually began on a different blog, a blog that is much older and much more random, with a single post that spelled out exactly how, almost a month before, I had come to realize that I may indeed be on the Asperger’s/autism spectrum.  (Keep in mind that at that time, I had known absolutely nothing other than that which the population at large “knows” (or thinks they know).)

As I began and continued to research more and more about Asperger/autism, I realized that as I was processing all of this new information and watching my life fall into place for the first time ever, I decided to keep my random blog random and start a separate blog,  dedicated exclusively to Asperger’s/autism, my life as experienced through that filter, and spectrum-related topics.  Eight days after writing the post on my “other” blog, I dribbled out the first post of this one, and poof!–The Silent Wave Blog was born.  The first few months (April, May, and June) were spent life-reframing and self-educating; those of you who are–or have loved ones who are–going through a similar process may find the posts from those months to be pretty relatable(?) 🙂

Two Pieces of Advice For New Bloggers…

  1. Just do it. 🙂  Get your voice out there.  Express yourself.  Do it your way.
  2. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: you never know just who your words may have helped on any given day.  You never know who might have come across your blog while running a Google search, clicked on your blog’s link, read your words, and cheered/wept in relief.  (I would know; I was one of those people.  I still am.) 😉

Nominated Bloggers…

This’ll be really, really tough, because I know and admire so many (there’s a lot of amazing talent out there!!).  But I’ll give it my best shot; here goes….

  1. Alexis Rose at A Tribe Untangled
  2. Robin at Invisible Autistic
  3. King Ben’s Grandma at King Ben’s Grandma 😉
  4. Cocoons at Cocoons Are Sometimes Comfy
  5. John W. Leys at Darkness Of His Dreams
  6. Gifted and Misunderstood at Gifted and Misunderstood
  7. Lynn Blair at Inked Autist
  8. Angie Moon The Mod at Crazy On Classic Rock
  9. Jonathan Caswell at By The Mighty Mumford
  10. Moshe Ben Yehuda at Liberty of Thinking
  11. This Woman Is Different at This Woman Is Different
  12. Twiggyjen44 at Twiggyjen44
  13. Just Me at Silent Fall
  14. Little Sparrow at Counting The Ways
  15. Anyone not mentioned here, please DO consider yourself nominated and invited!  All are welcome 🙂 ❤

And…now I’ve got some commenting to do. 😉  It’s after 3am local time, and “tonight” is a “School Night” (not actually school, per se, but work), and tomorrow will be extremely busy at work, so I’ll try to make the rounds on Tuesday or Wednesday. ❤

Thank you again to Little Miss Aspie!  Everybody should go check out her blog.  It rocks 🙂

  2. Oh, the life of me…
Here’s the time when my asocialness takes over and I run away…
Laina, I’m SO REALLY HAPPY for you, and while I fully rejoice with you being nominated, and am so thankful for you nominating me, and also rationally understand the rules, I have always found it impossible to act on them.
So please kindly accept that I humbly acknowledge and am honoured to be nominated, but I shall stop there, leaving it to you and other great people to further nominate…

    1. No worries, bro! 😊. I completely understand 🌷. I can relate quite a bit as well; hell it took me 3 months to get it done lol. I’m glad I did, but I completely respect the position of anyone and everyone else 😘🌺💙

  3. Thank you so much, I’m really honoured! A recognition award, oh dear…☺️
I’m a bit at a loss though as to what to do now. Obviously there are plenty of blogs I appreciate, but what if they’ve been nominated already? Can you just go and do it again? I mean, I’d nominate you right back in a heartbeat 🌺🌼💐
It might take me a while to act on this, but I’m chuffed to bits! (That’s British English for very pleased indeed 🙂)
And of course you deserve tons of recognition yourself, and I’m hardly the only one to say so! 🐉❤️
