Greets, my pretties!
First, I would like to clarify that I’m not going anywhere :). This post may sound like an adieu, but it’s not. I’m just stepping aside temporarily for this post; my next post will appear soon enough, and probably many more after it. If/when I ever retire from writing this blog, I’ll write a proper farewell 🙂
This is probably the shortest–and yet, probably my favorite–blog post you’ll likely see on this blog.
In what has become sort of an informal tradition, I like to take every 100th post or so and give back in some way, whether it’s to the Asperger’s/autism spectrum community, the blogging community, or both.
This time, I’m dropping the mic, temporarily stepping off the stage, and handing the microphone over to the **AWESOME-sauciest** group of people to ever walk the earth – the amazingly lovely peeps who have essentially turned this blog into a kick-butt online mini-forum (as one of you astutely pointed out a while back). 🙂
I absolutely love that y’all interact with each other and hang out here; it’s a total pleasure and honor to have y’all in my life. Seriously, I mean that much more intensely than words afford me the ability to say.
So… I’ll shut up now (soon), and invite y’all to sound off in the comments, with links to your blog(s), your favorite post(s), links to your books (whether they’ve been out for a while, or are newly-published, or are soon-to-be-published), whatever you like.
The only “rules” at this point are:
- I have no “rules” at this point, because I do have the honor of having y’all as friends and spirit-family and my regard for you is that high.
So, stepping aside for this post as of now, and encouraging everyone (whether you’re on the spectrum or not – that doesn’t matter at all) to promote your own blog in the comments! Go forth and visit and follow each other and stuff. See you for post #401 and beyond! 🙂 ❤

almost anyone can figure out how to get to my blog from here– nonetheless, id encourage anyone reading this to learn how to code.
coding is as difficult (or easy) as the language makes it. if the language is difficult, all the friendly point-and-click will only disguise the difficult. if the language is easy, you can type it.
one of the things thats nice about logo and fig is almost no punctuation. do i put a parenthesis or a squiggly line here? do i need a comma? who cares! put in a parenthesis or a comma here if you think it is helpful in some way. (fig is the only friendly language i know of that mostly lets you be the boss of where that syntax goes.)
but why? you dont intend to go into the software industry? the reason is that when you learn to code, you will begin to understand computers a new way– a more universal way. and not only does this bring greater confidence to the user (a nice aspect of it) but it makes you a more informed citizen– there are so many decisions that need to be made in any democracy these days, where a lack of full computer literacy is costly. code really helps–
this, and not the software industry, is why i recommend *everyone* learn this skill. even if its just the basics. the basics are what the rest is made of anyway. seriously. even if youre “not a computer person.” also, html and css are technically “coding,” but youre better off learning a “programming language” or a “scripting language” (javascript, php, basic, python, bash) as they will get you closer to what computing is about. html and css mostly just define documents. which is fine, thats what theyre for.

I read lots more blogs than I follow – maybe I should do more following! I’ve left quite a few comments and have had such lovely responses. For some reason I find “socialising” on the internet every bit as difficult and nerve-wracking as IRL, but everyone I’ve been in contact with has been super nice. 🙂 I’m kind of standing at the door of the autistic internet community, unsure if I can come in or not, but I get so much out of reading all your blogs that I’ve been inspired to start blogging myself (my name is the link).
Keep writing, all you lovely people, and I’ll keep reading for sure! ❤ ❤ ❤

Thank you luv! You rock! 😘❤️. Yep, I didn’t follow much before, either. It wasn’t anything against anyone; it just hadn’t crossed my mind. I didn’t even “like” many posts, even though I really loved them and bookmarked them lol. Again, I just never thought of it. But then I started thinking that I should, and that’s when I started meeting some of the best, best people 🤗🤗
I totally agree, it can be pretty nerve-wracking sometimes (“did I say that right? Did I add enough smileys to be clear that I’m joking around?”, etc) 😉.
The WP community is amazingly kind and typically very down to earth. Like offline life, as my mom always said, “there’s always one” (who isn’t kind, who’s a jerk, etc), and on a huge community like WP, there’ll often be more than one 😉. But the rest, the sweet and wise and awesome people, more than make up for the few isolated jerks 😊❤️
One thing I’ve noticed is that if there’s a jerk in the midst, they usually don’t have any support, so it’s less common to be ganged up on. That makes things a lot easier. And, even people who might be more confrontational on social media like Twitter, are usually a little/lot calmer on WP, which I find interesting 😊
At least, this is how I see everything. It’s just my perspective though; other’s mileage may vary 😘❤️
Thank you so much for reading and for your support and encouragement thus far! Thank you for your kind words! And thank you so much for writing *your* blog! It’s *awesome* and so are You! 😘💞🌺🙌🏽

Well, my blog is somewhat retired, but still there for perusal and the necessary evil of promoting my memoir about raising kiddos on the spectrum. ( written largely before I came to terms with my own autism) Fair warning: my blog always had a split personality of sorts but there are ample observations on autism sprinkled throughout. Ok. Enough overexplaining myself. lol. Here’s a link: https://brokencookiessite.wordpress.com/

Sweet!! I was hoping you’d share your link here too 😊😊. If you wish, you can promote your other recent project here if you wish! (The newest one, to clarify 😉). Commercial projects by–or in positive support of–autistic people are welcome in these comments (in case anyone was wondering) 😘❤️❤️

Oh my, that *did* sound like a farewell post, didn’t it? I went back and re-read it and I can totally see how it could be really confusing! Thank you for pointing this out (by your kind words, which I’m also very thankful for!) ❤️. I went back and edited the post to clarify 😊. It’s sort of a tradition that I dedicate every 100th post back to autistic people, bloggers (in general), autistic bloggers, etc, and this time I wanted to provide sort of an opt-in self-promotion thing 💓. But I’m still here and I’ll still be posting just like normal 🌟💞
I totally apologize for the confusion! I can absolutely see why/how the message wasn’t clear 🙂

Btw, anyone can feel free to pitch in btw!
I’m thinking about starting some kind of group / organisation / network a for Autistics / Aspies in Sweden. We don’t really have one. We have two national expert & autism parents organisation, otherwise it’s just small groups all over the country and… I don’t really like them, even if I’m part of one? Sweden hasn’t gotten very far in disability rights, not even the groups made by and for people on the spectrum seem to be kinda anti-label (unless it’s about function labels, which they love), and unaware of both neurodiversity & the social model of disability.
This just isn’t progressive enough for me (or.. at all), and I’d like an organisation that’s pro-diversity & disability rights. But there are a lot of autistic people in Sweden that ID as such, but at the same time avoid these organisations because we don’t feel welcome and really aren’t interested in what the current ones have to offer.

That’s a really excellent idea! I wish we were in Sweden – we would totally be on that 😊❤️

I really think Sweden would benefit from having one. Swedish autistics & otherwise disabled people if nothing else. I’d also kinda get something out of all my years at uni, communication, pr, linguistics, the humanities, discourse etc. Problems are of course my really low energy & general passivity and that all the cool IFL autistics live far away from me.

Congrats on the milestone! I love your blog, though I don’t always have the time to comment on everything I read (and sometimes I don’t because I hate typing long responses on my phone and then forget to comment when I’m on my laptop). I always look forward to your posts.
For anyone interested, I have a blog where I post my poetry (and some prose). My intention is to start self publishing some books of poetry in the near future:

Thank you for your supportive and lovely words, my friend!! I know exactly what you mean about long responses; you’re always welcome to type them, but I know it can be cumbersome. I often use the WP app, which crashes on me several times a day, always when leaving comments, and of course it eats my comment (grrrrrrr!) lol.
I love your blog and your poetry work! Utterly beautiful; thank you for linking to it from here! 💖💖

Thank you for the kind words about my poetry. I’m not the best at taking compliments, so I’ll leave it at that 😉
I do have to admit that sometimes I’ve considered commenting, but–since I am relatively new to the ASD community–I don’t always feel comfortable commenting on certain topics. Part of me is afraid, however irrationally, of alienating myself from the community because I know I don’t always share the majority view (or at least what appears to be the majority view based on what I’ve seen online). But that’s what I do in many areas of my life, stay quiet because I don’t want to “make waves” because I never feel like I really belong anywhere, so I try and cling to whatever little sense of belonging I have. Even this comment I thought about deleting three times as I typed it 😉

I’m so glad you posted your comment! I enjoyed–and found myself nodding along with–every bit of it 😊
For the record (and I’ll say this for the benefit of everyone reading this) that this space is a safe one 😊. I will not judge you ❤️. There are people on here who are pro- and against vaccines, cures, etc, and I respect each person’s viewpoint and I encourage everyone to do the same thing, whether or not they share that same viewpoint 💖. Non-majority views are perfectly welcome 😊 Personal attacks and hostility aren’t tolerated, nor is negativity about autism from non-autistic people, but practically everything else is, at least that I can think of right now 😉🌺
Waves are ok so long as they’re respectful and intellectual discussion of personal experience or available information 💜
Please feel free to share (or not share) whatever you like, whenever you like 😘. You’ve got friends here 🌺
